Kumuls’ surprise in Telikom donation

THE children’s ward at Port Moresby General Hospital (POMGH) received much needed assistance from Telikom PNG yesterday, with the Telikom PNG Kumuls there to support the cause.
There to hand over the donation was Telikom chief executive officer Peter Loko.
The donation was both in cash and kind with K5,000 in cash and K5,000 in kind – the kind portion comprising 100 K50 food vouchers for the guardians/carers, while the cash would be used to buy medical equipment to support the ward.
The timely donation would go towards buying life-saving equipment which included the pulse oxymeter, an instrument which tests for pneumonia and is used to measure the amount of oxygen. It will cost about K5,000.
Also complementing the donation were some gift packs for the children, which included T-shirt, water bottle, and pencil kits.
“We are very grateful for this timely donation,” chief pediatrician Dr David Mokela said.
“Now that we have got money we can buy this equipment.”
The children’s ward does not have a separated budget allocated to it but relies on the activity plan of the general budget.
If need arises, a request is submitted.
Referrals from Gulf and Central provinces are catered by the POMGH.
