Kunda retains post in provincial admin

PUBLIC Service Minister Elias Kapavore says Joe Kunda has been reappointed as the acting provincial administrator for Chimbu after his contract had expired.
Kapavore said according to law, once a term of a provincial administrator had expired, an acting appointment must be made for a period of three months or until such time a substantive appointment was made by the government following due process.
“So this should put to rest any misleading information on the social media and other mediums of communications regarding the acting appointment of provincial administrator for Chimbu,” he said.
“His (Kunda) terms as provincial administrator has expired and the Simbu executive council has made their decision for a substantive provincial administrator appointment after deliberating from a shortlist by the Department of Personnel Management.
“While we await the National Executive Council decision on the substantive appointment, an acting appointment is in place in compliance with the law.”
