KUNDIAWA General Nursing College in Chimbu has been granted the green light to proceed with its academic programmes.
Chimbu Governor Michael Dua officiated the launching the college last Friday.
Dua committed to support the project to ensure it becomes a fully fledged college.
“I give you my assurance that this is one of my impact projects, my government will ensure that the infrastructures required to meet the standards for full accreditation will be supported,” he said.
Health Department training and standards adviser and chairman of the nursing council Peter Pindan said Chimbu deserved a nursing college given the current six-star status of the hospital in the province.
“With the best hospital in the province and the country, this college will address the health workforce issue in the province and the country,” he said.
“We are willing to support the college because the provincial government is committed to supporting the college.”
