The Foe Fasu people of Kutubu have praised Southern Highlands Governor William Powi and Nipa-Kutubu MP Jeffrey Komal for helping them celebrate the country’s 38th independence anniversary.

Kutubu local level government president John Pipi Kila said the commitment shown by the two national leaders was indicative of what the people would be seeing in the next four years.

Powi and Komal gave K15,000 to people in Kutubu to celebrate the anniversary of independence.

“Powi has shown excellent leadership qualities and with him at the helm, I am sure the Foe Fasu people of Kutubu will see their main administrative centre in Pimaga change,” Kila said.

“My people hold Powi highly because of the work he has done to help them live good lives.”

He gave a recent example of Powi’s allocation of K100,000 to the Daga one and two villages for a water supply project.

“This is a life necessity that the Daga people have been without for so many years.

“But, thanks to the governor and his team of administrators, my people will now have water at their doorsteps.”

Kila said he was confident Komal and Powi would continue their excellent working relationship to develop Nipa, Kutubu and Southern Highlands.

“This is the kind of leadership that we, council presidents and councillors, must emulate in our new jobs and responsibilities,” Kila said.
