Lack of basic drugs

Letters

IT was an ongoing concern that was raised in your column over the past and it is not a surprise the front line doctors had enough and have decided to tender their resignation simply because of the prevalent systematic corruption that is riddled in the value chain of drug procurement; storage, distribution and dosage administration in the National Health Department.
The people are suffering from lack of basic drugs despite over K500 million budgeted for the procurement every year since 2007 due to systematic corruption starting at cabinet level, Secretaries level at CACC, Central Supplies Tender Board and National Health Pharmaceutical Board, National Health procurement staff, doctors, nurses, drug store managers and down the line.
There will never be a blessing to people of this country in receiving sustainable quality health services despite millions of kina investments because it is consumed in kickbacks and thefts for side monies opportunist.
Anyone who has been a beneficiary of those health blood money should know that they have failed their fellow country men and women big time.
