Lack of support into recovery of stolen items disappoints NAC

THE National Airports Corporation (NAC) has expressed disappointed that its stolen equipment from Madang Airport has yet to be returned.
NAC managing director and chief executive officer Rex Kiponge said the corporation had not received any updates on the return of the equipment associated with the landing aids (precision approach path indicator – papi lights) and the arrest of suspects.
He said it was disappointing because air transport service was critical to the economic development of the province.
He called on the people to assist police to identify and arrest the suspects and return the stolen property.
Kiponge could not confirm yesterday whether the airport would downgrade flights as a result of safety.
The items stolen included two solar panels and two solar batteries which power the temporary Papi lights of the airport.
