Lae bowling challenge attracts best in PNG

FIVE clubs will be participating at the Niugini Tablebirds national mixed fours championships at the Lae Bowls club this weekend.
They are the Port Moresby Defence bowling club, Bulolo, Madang, Mt Hagen and Goroka.
The event was boosted with the sponsorship of K8,000 from Niugini Tablebirds.
Lae Bowls Club president, Peter John thanked the company for supporting the event.
He said business houses and individuals were very reluctant to support sporting events but bowling was fortunate to obtain such sponsorship.
He said it was the fourth year for the company to sponsor the event.
Goroka’s Peter Juni, Tony Yogiyo, Madang’s Pomat Topal, Port Moresby’s Pomax Pomaleu and Trevor Sireh, Mt Hagen’s Peter Noki and Lae’s youngster Matu Baso are expected to feature prominently.
Tournament coordinator Harry Kaisa said the games would kick off at 8am and finish at 5pm each day. The finals will be held on Sunday.
