LAE FC head coach Peter Gunemba has started the ball rolling in preparing for their much anticipated debut into the 2014 National Soccer League season with an initial 35-man team.

The team will later be trimmed down to 25, however the 10 who miss the cut will still be under the clubs training and development programmes throughout the season and will be the first choice replacement to the 25.

Gunemba, whose son Raymond is the current midfielder for NSL champions Hekari United, guided the Gigira Laitepo Morobe into the NSL 2007-2008 semi-finals while his last exposure at the NSL was as head coach of PNG Besta United in the 2009-2010 season.

“It’s a big job I have to put a team together, the boys are picking up, it’s a transitional phase,” Gunemba said in Lae. The only outside signing for the franchise will be in O-League player Harold Buskh, a Tongan international who is currently playing in Fiji.

“The majority of the players are local players,” Gunemba said.

Players with NSL experience are Goroba Tau, Japheth Tiampo, Matheson Nasa, Kohu Liem, Emmanuel Simon and Emmanuel Yawi.

The will be the core of the Lae FC side.

Excitement is high in the air following announcements during the official launch of the club last Saturday in Lae that the best raw soccer talents from the rural districts of Morobe will be scouted and given opportunity to play with the club.
