SIX infringement notices will be served today on Lae companies for either parking their vehicles or placing containers on sidewalks.

And failure to comply within seven days would result in a K500 fine and a K50 per day fee until vehicles and containers were removed, Lae urban community policing chief Simon Ipam said last Friday.

Ipam admitted parking and placing containers on footpaths were serious issues and dangerous practices.

“These practices cause traffic congestion which can lead to vehicle accidents and pedestrians being run over,” he said.
