A multimedia company has been awarded a K100,000 contract in the Lae joint district planning and budget priorities committee funding to manage the two electronic billboards.

Asples Multimedia Productions (AMP) director Jiei Simoi said the funds would cater for the general running of the billboards and training of five youths to edit and upload messages, images and videos.

“AMP will manage the electronic billboards until the Lae City Commission is in place to oversee the management of the billboards. Apart from the electronic billboards, AMP will manage the two inflatable screens to show movies around the 23 wards of Lae city,” Simoi said.

“AMP is registered under IPA and is a small multimedia studio that produces audios and videos. The electronic billboards are the initiative of Lae MP Loujaya Kouza to uplift the image of the  city,” he said.

“The billboards are the property of Lae district and are purposely to display important messages, images and videos displaying development projects and infrastructure of Lae district for the citizens of the city to see and not to promote the Lae MP’s personal agenda nor is it a campaign tool for the MP as some critics claimed. There are so many projects on the ground that people do not know of, so the billboard is an avenue where these projects can be displayed.

“Currently, the billboards and the inflatable screens are not in operation as AMP has not received the funding yet. AMP will receive the funds either this week or next week as the funds are under the process to be paid out.”
