Lae dominates women’s bowling

LAE dominated the 2016 national women’s bowling pennants after defeating Bulolo 17-11.
The two days tournament held at the Mt Hagen bowling club attracted female bowlers from Port Moresby (Defence Club), Bulolo, Lae, Goroka and Mt Hagen.
Bowls PNG secretary Rebecca Walo said that this was an annual tournament normally held during the Independence weekend but due to the current student unrest they have changed the dates.
Walo said she was impressed to witness the game that attracted many female bowlers in the country including  junior bowlers.
“The Lae team to this year’s tournament was dominated by young bowlers and this was what every club needed to promote,” Walo said.
“I’m impressed to see that Lae was dominated with young bowlers and I would call on other clubs to involve young bowlers.”
She thanked the participating teams for taking part in the tournament which is a peak event which on the women’s game calendar.
President of the Mt Hagen Bowling Club Sir Lucas Roika commended the teams for participating in the tournament.
