Lae likely to host cup final

 THE Lae Rugby League ground is most the likely venue for the PNG National Rugby League Digicel Cup grand final.

This was revealed by PNGNRL general manager Hubert Warupi last week when asked whether there were other venues under consideration to host the final.

Lae last hosted a final in 2010  – the Lahanis beat the Muruks 21-10.

The other centres being looked at to host finals matches are Rebiamul in Mt Hagen and Kalabond in Kokopo. 

Warupi there was an outside chance Port Moresby could host matches however this would depend on the availability of venues in the nation’s capital.

He said because the major venues in Port Moresby (Lloyd Robson Oval and Sir Hubert Murray Stadium) were undergoing redevelopment for the 2015 Pacific Games, the main issue was security with the alternative locations could not provide adequate seating or security.
