The 2014 Ladies Masters Pairs got off to a cool start with a women’s team who travelled from Lae to line up in the two-day event.

Dressed in the traditional white outfit, the pairs bedazzled the green lawns of the Murray Barracks Bowling Club.

A total of 11 teams braved the two days of competition  which was hailed a success.

Day one ended with a few ladies scoring above the average to make it through to the finals. All players managed to complete in time on Sunday.

It was a round robin competition  due to the number of teams that participated.

Old-timer Walo Pisak and determined Shirly Ere, representing the Defence force bowling club, proved champions and displayed some masterful play, defeating Lae’s supremo Piwen Pomaleu and depriving her of the title which she has held for two years.
