WORK on upgrading the Lae-Nadzab road to a four-lane highway was expected to start this month.

A statement from Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s office said the heads of the departments of Works and Transport, and National Roads Authority met with Chief Secretary Manasupe Zurenuoc last Friday and briefed him on the progress of the key infrastructure project.

“Scoping and design for stage one, the 9.3km section between Bugandi roundabout and Wau-Bulolo turn-off, is completed,” the statement said.

“Contract documents were being finalised for the Central Supply and Tenders Board to execute so that work could start. The road would be upgraded to a modern four-lane highway with a solid pavement structure with footpaths on either side.
