LAE FC have denied that they will recruit players during the transfer period to beef up their campaign for 2014 National Soccer League season.
Team manager David Zemo said the coaching staff was unhappy with a media report that Lae were eyeing Besta striker Tom Semmy during the transfer window.
The report appeared in this paper last Friday.
“We are comfortable with all our Lae-based local boys and have no plans to recruit any players from other NSL teams,” Zemo said.
“Lae FC’s main aim is to develop football by engaging local players to show their talent in the semi-professional competition against the best in the country.
“The players have proved to us they can play at this level.”
“If we feel that we need to get others from outside the set up then I‘ll be the one to give that information to the media not the players or anyone else.”
Zemo said coach Peter Gunemba rejected any claims that they were looking for new players with half the regular season already gone.
Lae sit on fourth spot with 10 points despite a 4-0 beating by city rivals over the weekend.
