ALL schools in Lae that have not held graduation ceremonies will not do so this year, education authorities in Morobe said.
Lae Secondary School held its Grade 12 graduation two weeks ago, while Busu Secondary is the only other school allowed to hold its graduation today.
Education authorities, fearing reprisals following the stabbing to death of a Bugandi Secondary School student last Friday, had notified all schools in the city to cancel graduation ceremonies.
Authorities met yesterday to determine whether schools in the city should be suspended or closed early for Christmas this year.
A source from the education division said while the school year end next Friday, authorities planned to bring that forward to this Friday.
All schools in the city would be notified by tomorrow or Friday of any change.
School conflicts and disputes last year forced many schools in the city to cancel graduation ceremonies, with students having to pick up their certificates from school management.
