The women’s volleyball and men’s touch competitions have attracted 20 and 14 teams respectively.
The competitions end next month before students return to school.
Games technical officer Ari Peter said the competitions, sponsored by Lae MP John Rosso, had been running for the last 20 years.

“When he was elected Lae MP, he continued sponsoring the competitions.
“This year, the MP has again sponsored the competitions and also we had Daniel supporting with funds from the Councillor’s Office.
“We’re helping the volleyball and touch teams buy uniforms or raise funds for their end-of-season gatherings.” Peter said as leaders, they were working with Daniel to move the community forward.
“Since the start of the competitions, there have been no hiccups.
After 13 rounds, matches are running smoothly as we want to make them family-oriented competitions for many people to attend,” Peter said.
“We want to instill a positive attitude among our community members by educating them about time management and other important areas in life.”
