THE Lae Tigers, after five consecutive wins at home, are aiming to continue their impressive record against the visiting Goroka Lahanis.

They will be led by three former Lahanis players in fullback Thompson Teteh, five-eighth Walter Hasu and prop Elvis Dick.

Stanley Tepend the Tigers coach described their 20-12 win last week over the Mendi Muruks as an ugly win.

“We’re aware of what we did wrong last week we’ve learnt a lesson, it was a win at the end of the day but it wasn’t pretty,” Tepend said.

“We have worked hard all week and we’ve talked about areas that we need to improve on,” he said.

Hasu, Dick and Teteh will rise to the occasion against their former team.

Captain Sydney Fred maintained that the new look Tigers approach so far has not change in that they focus on each match one at a time regardless what opponent they face.

“We are focused on each match, our attack and defence has been good and we have trust our systems.

“This match against Lahanis will be a strong one but we have high hopes and are focused on this match.

“A win will see us hold on to the joint lead and maybe even the outright lead,” Fred said.
