Morobe women’s basketball team are confident of reclaiming their gold medal, says coach Martha Aaron.
After defeating Gulf 44-34 in a thrilling contest in the medal qualifiers, Morobe will now face Southern Highlands in the women’s gold medal playoff today.
Southern Highlands qualified for the gold medal play offs after downing Chimbu 79-60 with a dominant performance.
“Our preparations have been good, we trained well as a team even though the games were delayed but we prepared physically and mentally and the young players have picked up well from the experienced ones that is why I think we have been focused coming into these games.
“In our team we have girls coming from the Lae Basketball Association and also from the districts in Morobe but the current team is mainly made up of Lae-based players and some girls from Markham
district and Nawae district,” Aaron said.
Morobe have won three out of four games in the pool stages only lost to Chimbu by one point but qualified for the cross-over to beat Gulf and secure a place in the gold medal play offs.
