Lae’s horror roads

Letters

I am writing to share my concerns about the never ending drama with potholes in Lae.
I am a grade 5 student at Lae International School.
Everyday when I travel to and from school I’m always bouncing up and down in my seat.
If you have just had your breakfast, the bouncing up and down is especially not a happy feeling.
Everywhere you go there is always a chance of a bumpy ride welcoming you – which is not so welcoming.
In addition, Lae being a city where rain is common, water tends to fill up the potholes and make them very dangerous.
For instance, if a driver has to travel to a destination he has not been to before, he will not know how deep the pothole is and may end up diving head-on into a pool deeper than he has been expecting.
This causes road accidents.
I thank our honorable member John Rosso for the great work he has done so far to get the main roads fixed, but I plead on behalf of my good citizens of Lae for our government to help rebuild our roads and streets and give us a smoother ride to school.
Hoping for a better Lae.
