THE Laga Industries Ltd in Lae opened its new office complex on Monday built at a cost of K2.2 million at East Taraka.
Paradise Company Ltd board chairman Anthony Smare said the group had a plan for Laga Industries when they bought the company in 2018 from Steamship Trading Company Ltd.

“We invested in buying new machines for ice-cream production and built the administration office so the company could meet the demand that our customers are putting on us in regard to our products, around the country,” he said.
Smare said the entire product line was run by qualified Papua New Guineans.

“With the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) restrictions, Laga and Paradise looked at input replacement where they could do wrappers and boxes here instead of importing from overseas,” he said.
“We used our ways to maximise and use local materials to reduce cost (as well).”

The company rewarded some staff members.
Chief executive officer Michael Penrose said: “Some staff have been going above and beyond their normal work routines and the company has recognised them for their efforts.
