THE man behind the National Capital District Lagatois, Billy Aki was disappointed with the NCD Governor Powes Parkop for not fully supporting the franchise’s bid for the 2016 Digicel Cup competition.

In an exclusive interview with The National Aki said from Bomana jail where he on remand awaiting sentencing for the death of his wife in the New Year, that NCD Governor Parkop had let the NCD youths down by not financially backing the franchise.

Aki said he was speaking on behalf of all the players, who trialed for the Lagatois.

The players had expressed their dissatisfaction because Parkop did not fully back their bid.

“It’s really disappointing to learn that the Lagatois bid was unsuccessful.” Aki said he had several talks with Parkop and was promised support for the Lagatois bid.

“Our aim to develop our pool of players is over,” Aki said.

“We set the bench mark with the Suburban League and have held the  the NCD Governor’s Cup and Easter Cup for over 10 years,” Aki said.

Aki said Port Moresby was a big city and it was fitting to have two teams in the competition.
