DEBUTANT Bintangor Goroka Lahanis prop Gonzales Urakusie proved a hit in his first match menacing a brave but overmatched NGIP Agmark Gurias in the opening round of the Digicel Cup yesterday in Goroka.
The homseide accounted for the New Guinea Islanders 22-6 with Urakusie a nightmare for the Guiras defenders in the middle of the field.
The match played at the National Sports Institute featured a young Gurias side against the defending premiers.
Lahanis coach Peter Danga offered some consolation for the Gurias saying they had a very young and inexperienced side.
Gurias coach Michael Marum said handling errors hindered any momentum his team could muster and it was something they had to control when they face the Vipers next week at home.
The Lahanis scored four ties to Gurias one and led 16-0 at the break.
Try scorers were Desmond Tete, Jackol Urako, Spiro Makaive and Nicko Ubile while PNG rugby union 7s representative Nelson Daplin crossed for the Kokopo-based team late in the second half for a converted try.
