BINTANGOR Lahanis are now the leaders of 2013 Digicel Cup competition after defeating Enga Mioks 23-10 in Goroka yesterday.

Lahanis are leading with 19 points, after top placed Lae Snax Tigers were beaten in Port Moresby 26-10 by Stop N Shop (SNS) Vipers.

The hosts, in fact, struggled for most of the game before securing the win on the 75th minute, thanks to some enterprising football styles demonstrated by ageless skipper Nicko Ubile and electrifying winger Felix Tatsim.

Mioks appeared dominant throughout the entire match through powerful runs from the forwards led by Kumul duo David Loko and Esau Siune.

Even forwards like Ema Soar, Paul Kambi and Andrew Sipil did their part by worrying the Lahanis patriotic Goroka crowd.

Mioks failed to register points when it mattered most through silly ball handlings inside the Lahanis territory.

Lahanis fullback Adex Kuddo Wera had a pivotal game for the Lahanis.

The tight score line was maintained through solid defence and attack from both sides till the full time.

Mioks coach Lepa described the game as top performance by both sides.

Lepa said due to the incident in Wabag last Sunday, the team only trained for two days.

He also called on PNGNRL general manager Hubert Warupi to reconsider playing some of the games at netural venue after Miok’s home games were withdrawn.
