Laiagam-Porgera road to be sealed

PEOPLE of Lagaip-Porgera electorate, Enga province, will now have access to travel on a sealed road thanks to the government for allocating funds for the Laiagam-Porgera road sealing project.
This is a big development that will benefit the population in the area who said it was a big help to them from the government. 
Several leaders from the electorate have also appreciated the project and described it as the first of its kind for the people in the area.
Spokesperson and Porgera community leader Thomson Kulara said they believed that better roads would always pave way  for more services and allow developments to take place.
Kulara praised the government for allocating funds for the road sealing project because the electorate was the host of the Porgera gold mine.
He said places where there were resources like Porgera gold mine should be given first priority.
 in terms of better roads.
He said this is the national highway and wasn’t sealed for years since commencement of the mining operation there.
He thank MP Philip Kikala for taking supporting this road project.
He said Kikala’s first initiatives were the road sealing from Surunki to Laigiam station and that was a success.
Kulara said now the current Laigiam station to Porgera; road sealing is also another initiative taken by Kikala.
He said since Kikala was elected into parliament he has brought in many tangible development to the electorate.
Meanwhile, Kulara also appealed to the surrounding communities to take ownership of the project and provide a good working environment for the contractors to complete the work on time.
He also thanked Governor Peter Ipatas and Treasury and border development Authority minister Don Polye for their contributions and support towards the Liagiam – Pogera road sealing project.
He said that this is good sign for the province when all leaders are working together to deliver service to the people.
