Lamana on top in snooker comp

REIGNING premiers Lamana have shot to a two-game lead in the Pacific MMI Port Moresby Corporate snooker competition.
After eight weeks of competition, the Arua Simoi-led Lamana team sit on top with 18 points from six wins and one loss.
That loss came in week four when last year’s runners-up Bestcars avenged their grand final loss with a 6-1 victory.
Lamana showed no mercy when they trounced the Car club Turbos team on Tuesday, who have yet to win a game 6-1 in the seven team A grade competition.
Bestcars, minus linchpin John Chan lost 3-4 to the Roger Ng led Starland Dragons.
Despite the loss, Bestcars are in second place with a better frame differential on 12 points with Eda Ranu Bullets and GAL Top Shooters respectively.
The Bullets snuck into third spot with a 5-2 win over the Top Shooters.
JKL Thunders and Starland Dragons on both on nine points with the Thunders sitting in 5th spot with a superior frame differential.
Tournament director Joey Chan said Monday nights games was the start of the second round and it’s still anybody’s race for the minor premiership.
“There’s still a long way to go with six more weeks and the race for the minor premiership is still wide open and at this stage any of the top five teams have a chance,” he said.
PNG representative Ralph Kaina has scored the highest break of 46 so far.
In B Grade Sunbird Falcons (18) lead ahead of ER Bomana Bullets (12), Pacific Titans (12), GAL Top Shooters (12), Turbos (9), Ela Motors Breakers (9), Nationwide Reds (6) and Murub Naikos (3).
GAL Top Shooters (21), who are undefeated so far lead the C Graders ahead of ER Bomana Bullets (15), Yamaha Media (15), Sunbird Falcons (15), Pacific Titans (9), Turbos (6), Toyota Media (3) and Pacific MMI (0) yet to register a win.
B Graders play on Tuesday nights and C Graders on Wednesday nights.
