NATIONAL Capital District project manager John Makop says they are working with Lands Minister Justin Tkatchenko in allocating alternative land to people evicted by the courts.
He was responding to the eviction of more than 400 people from Banana Block at 5-Mile in Port Moresby.
Makop said they would look into the case to see if it was a genuine one and deserved attention.
One of those evicted was mother Yelo Tara from Chuave, who had been living there with her three daughters for the past 15 years.
“We couldn’t gather our belongings. We only grabbed our children and ran for safety and watched from a safe distance as bulldozers break down houses.”
Tara said a pastor at ATS and the NCDC Women Council president Rose Sinowai provided shelter for them.
Sinowai who took them in last year had now asked them to move since she wants to develop that residential areas.
