Land given for church project

THE Waran congregation, Komba circuit, Ukata district in Kabwum, Morobe, will officially hand over a portion of land for church project development that will coincide with 100 years anniversary celebration for the arrival of first missionary. 
The preparation is underway for the event to be held on Aug 10-12 to celebrate the arrival of Germany Lutheran missionary Rev Saurekaer on Aug 11, 1919.
However, the geographical isolation in communication and mobility for assistance, the organising committees are in town to seek help and organise the logistics.
At the occasion, the Katam land, portion 40 C, CAT No 32/41, registered on Sept 12, 1990, will be officially dedicated and handed over to the Lutheran church as a sign of upholding the faith in God.
“Our giving will enhance the church to collaborate with any interested government and non-governmental organisations to initiate tangible projects to improve local congregations,” organising committee secretary Isaac Bugere said.
The occasion is of historical importance and according to the locals, other historical events that eventuated prior to August 1919, was missing in current archival records of Evangelical Lutheran church.
“Therefore, at the event, three activities will coincide with the anniversary celebrations.
“That includes highlights of the important events, hand over of the land for church projects and prayer of conviction for the government leaders by various invited church denomination’s pastors,” he said.
Importantly, God’s message of hope and unity to Kabwum people was settled and established at Katam land, Waran village.
The power and value of spiritual importance of the message had remained unchanged after 100 years.
“We would renew the calling and share the Gospel with various church denominations in the country and around the world for all of us to prepare our destiny for the second calling of the Lord Jesus Christ,” Bugere said.
In a signed statement by Ukata district president Rev Bayuso Basingnu and Komba circuit president Hongke Indua delivered to the office of the ELCPNG head bishop Giegere Wenge, the international friends from as far Bavaria church in Germany and Australia were invited to the occasion.
The event will be broadcast live on Radio Light that will be invited to Kabwum for the coverage.
