Landowner firm providing services

Business

A LANDOWNER company in Western is providing health services for people in Kiunga town.
Lotic Bige Ltd, the umbrella company owned by the landowners in Lower Ok Tedi, opened the medical centre in Kiunga on Thursday.
Ok Tedi Mining Ltd (OTML) managing director and chief executive Musje Werror commended the landowners for establishing the service which would now provide the people of Kiunga an alternative health care service.
“Each year, Ok Tedi spends millions of kina in contracts to local companies,” Werror said.
“To see a landowner company invest some of the profit it generates from the mine back into the community makes me proud.”
Last year, OTML awarded more than K1.4 billion in contracts to companies compared to K420 million in 2018.
“OTML generates significant benefits for the people of Western and, unfortunately, there is little to show for,” he said.
