STUDENTS should be equipped with appropriate tools to achieve their goals in life, dean of the School of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Papua New Guinea, Prof Sir Isi Kevau, said.
Sir Isi was speaking at the presentation of a new laptop to one of his students at the medical faculty last Friday.
The laptop valued at K3,000, was presented by landowner company Koe-Ebi Resources Ltd to final year Bachelor of Medical Imaging Science student Thomas Dara.
Sir Isi said the presentation was the first of its kind for small local companies to give to students at the faculty.
“It is good to see more local companies helping our students.”
He said most of what the school taught was computerised and the laptop would help Dara.
Company manager John Gane said Dara was from Hides, Hela, and he would be an asset to the new province once he completed school.
Dara thanked Koe-Ebi Resources Ltd and said he would use it for research and assignments.
He said being a medical officer was not a profession in which one made a lot of money but where one served his people.
