THE Foe PDL2 landowners, in the Kutubu area, of Southern Highlands, appointed their new chairman last Friday at the Kutubu local level government building at Pimaga station.

Johnny Yawari was declared the chairman after defeating former chairman Sese Vege by seven votes, 48-41.

Forty-nine incorporated land groups participated in the election, which was witnessed by an assistant national court registrar, police personnel, lawyers and representatives from the Oil Search Ltd and Mineral Resource Development Corporation.

Yawari said he was pleased for the trouble-free elections and was eager to get to work.

“There are many outstanding issues that need to be addressed and I would like cooperation from everyone for the betterment of the people,” he said.

He urged Vege to leave his political differences aside and work with him in the interest of the people.
