FOUR new executives of the Yanta Landowners Association (YLOA) of the Wafi-Golpu project in Morobe were sworn into office last week.
The four are Victor Geyactulu (president), Robert Yana (vice-president), Joshua Geob (secretary) and Tau Sombe (treasurer).
The executives were declared in an election on March 5 at the Wafi-Golpu project site but a restraining order from the former YLOA president stopped them from taking office and performing their duties.
Morobe government legal officer Clive Kalake said the court order that stopped the executives from taking office was set aside because there was no reason stated for the court order.
“We have big work and we will not delay this,” he said.
“We think it’s urgent for you to take office before other developments can happen.”
Mumeng local level government chairman and Morobe mining and petroleum chairman Kekeng Amos welcomed the new executives and said he and the provincial administration would work closely to address landowner issues.
“I want you all to work well with us,” Amos said.
the provincial administration and the governor and avoid working with people from outside,” Amos said.
