Landowners must sign deals

Letters

REGARDING the protest at the Wafi mining site, the mining minister and the Morobe governor must start finding out who are legitimate landowners of that land before moving on to the next phase of signing of MoU and MoA.
If there’s no proper identification of the landowners, the Government itself and the mining company will face a lot of problems.
There will be definitely a lot of bloodshed. There are original landowners and also migrated ones.
Let’s now come to our God given understanding and make good decisions for our people.
We must not be blind, standing on one side and dropping the other clans.
Let us get the documents of all of those clans who claim to be landowners of Wafi-Golpu.
Find out which clan has the evidence and witnesses from other clans. From there, we will surely know who the real original landowners of Wafi-Golpu are.
At this time, no one knows who the landowner clans are.
We must not say, “this is the clan, that is the clan” just because they are living around the mine site.
