Landowners not happy

Letters

WE, the Tekem landowners of Kompiam district, in Enga, do not want any more developer working in our area.
The first developer of an alluvial mining project had no plan to develop or deliver services to our communities.
That developer has left and our community has gained nothing.
Developers have been making fools out of us by giving each individual only K50-K100 in royalty payments.
We want a company that can build good roads, schools, and aid post and other infrastructural developments as part of its alluvial mining agreement.
I beg the Government to help us form an Incorporated Land Group. We will allow developers back in after that.

(Tekem landowners’ representative)
