A HUGE pig-killing ceremony was held for Mineral Resources Development Company officials who surprised Paguale villagers in Moran, Hela, by turning up there this week to inspect their education and health facilities.
The visit followed proposals by landowner leaders for rundown and deteriorating facilities to be renovated and maintained. Acting on these recent submissions, MRDC general manager Imbi Tagune visited the sites this week and was farewelled in an emotional ceremony.
Village leader and Moran landowner John Kila said while the people did not expect an MRDC official to make such an immediate visit, since the submissions for projects’ upgrade were recently made, it was encouraging to note the quick response by MRDC managing director Augustine Mano and his team of senior managers.
“It goes to show the kind of man Mano and his senior managers are,” he said.
“They have been working closely with us, the landowners, over the years and will continue to do so.
“We want such a person to be at MRDC to work with us,” Kila said.
He said similar sentiments had been expressed by villagers in Kikori, Kutubu and others who affiliated with MRDC.
