THE landslide that occurred in Chimbu is still in danger of slipping again, provincial disaster coordinator Michael Apa said.

Apa told The National at the Climate Change workshop yesterday that the landslide buried two small creeks.

The provincial disaster office said the creeks may have formed an underground lake and has asked people to vacate the area immediately.

The landslide from Sike Wake to Wara Chimbu cut the Kundiawa-Gembolg Highway last week and damaged 30 homes. At least 200 people were displaced.

The villagers were given food and shelter and told to do up temporary homes.

The landslide also affected 60 to 70 people living in the Gembolg area towards Madang.
