LANGUAGE lecturers from teachers education institutions attended an annual language conference in Kokopo, East New Britain, this week.

It is the second annual language conference under a language support programme.

Conference coordinator Patrick Magara said the programme aimed to improve teacher training in reading, writing, speaking and listening.

The two-day conference ended on Tuesday at the OLSH Teachers College at Kabaleo, Kokopo district.

The theme was “empowering teachers, empowering children through speaking and listening”.

It focused on the importance of improving the teaching of English in primary and elementary schools.
