MORE than 400 De La Salle members are attending the National Lasallian Gathering in Port Moresby to celebrate the year of Lasallian vocations.
The gathering marks the 300-year anniversary of St John Baptist De La Salle.
The National Lasallian Family office, which comprises De La Salle brothers, teachers, students and alumni, are attending the gathering at the De La Salle school ground in Hohola.
The gathering started on Sunday and ends today.
Keynote speaker Br David Hawke said Lasallians had to look to the past of Lasallian vocation and missions to shape the future.
“The Lasallian mission reached Australia in 1906 and PNG in 1946,” he said.
De La Salle is the name of the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of Christian Schools and Patron of Christian Teachers while, Lasallian is the family name of the members.
