Since switching from the shortened version of rugby league into its original format, new Hohola Offseason team, Funeral Homes Laumas are performing well.
Despite lacking experience coaching league, Laumas mentor Peter Popal is proving his mettle in the Port Moresby suburban competition.
“I’ve only played a couple of league matches before but never done any coaching,” Polap said.
The Laumas are trying their hand out in the 13s format and according to the coach, they are doing quite well.
“We’ve been using some skills adapted from the nines into the bigger format and we doing quite well.
“We’ve had five matches so far and won four and drew one,” Polad added.
Joining the team was player Clifton Tuali, who with wife Losa Tuali Agonia, has sponsored the club for its seven outings.
“I’d like to see the boys, most of them unemployed, off the streets and live a healthy and active lifestyle.
Tuali said it would make him a happy man if one of his players gets a selection into a national team.
