FIJI champion club Lautoka FC want nothing less than a win when they take on PNG’s Hekari United in Group B of the O-League match at Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Coach Imdad Ali and his club president Shalandra Prasad made their intention known upon their arrival in Port Moresby yesterday.
Both men, who are confident, said at the Gateway Hotel Apartments last night that they were here for a purpose, to win the match.
Other teams participating in the O-League want to win their matches so Lautoka FC or Hekari FC are no different.
Ali, who is no stranger to PNG, having being with the U17 Fiji team in 1987, said his boys were well prepared to take on the PNG champions.
“I have seen Hekari play with Ba last year and they are a good team. We are prepared to face them,” he said.
Ali said he had a good mixture of players which include the Australians and the local boys to select from.
“I will use two Australians James Chronopoulos (goalkeeper) and Nahuel Arrarte (midfielder), who were part of the team that defeated Marist FC 3-1,” he said.
Ali said he could predict but would wait and see what Hekari United FC got before showing his ace.
When asked about Fiji players in Hekari United FC, Ali said he knew them during a national soccer camp.
“They are very good players and deserve my respect,” he said.
Ali, who is from Ba, said Tuimaci Manuca formerly played for Ba FC. “He is a very dangerous striker. He is one of the players who will certainly come under close watch,” he said.
