YOUNG Monica Lavapo won Port Moresby road runners 2km race from Korobosea School on Saturday afternoon in 10.38 finishing well in front of Cathy Paul.
Swans Pinampio won the 4.8km race in 19.13. Titus Tobia was second and Jenny Newton was the fastest girl in front of Cristi Morf.
Fit as a fiddle Mark Hackney was the sole competitor in the 9.6km race finishing in 50.38.
However, unsatisfied with a mere 9.6km race around the hills of Korobosea and out towards Taurama, Hackney kept running all the way from Korobosea to his home in town.
The hilly course proved a hard ask for some runners so close to the Christmas break.
But the hitout will prove valuable for the tough race next Saturday at 5pm.
It will be the Garden Hills race over 8km which takes on the Porporena Highway.
The 2km race; Monica Lavapo 10.38, Cathy Paul 15.08, Rebeca Henry 16.02, Regina Paul 16.03, Shirley Michael 16.33 and Josehabell Henry 16.36
The 4.8km race; Swans Pinampio 19.13, Titus Tobia 23.20, John Ulelu 23.44, Jenny Newton 23.45 and Cristi Morf  27.08, making the top five.
