Lavukoloa look to dominate Vava men’s grand final

LAVUKOLOA will look to dominate proceedings when the national club champions face Marlins Storm in the Vabukori Amatuer Volleyball Association (Vava) men’s grand final tomorrow.
Vava minor premiers Lavukoloa, who lost one match against Storm all season, will look to produce their best performance to claim the 27th grand final.
Both teams are evenly matched and are well groomed by coaches Keko Keko (Marlins) and Michael Charlie (Lavukoloa).
They also have depth in attack and defence with Lavukoloa’s Jackson Kairi and Joshua Harry expected to face stiff opposition in Heau Eremia and Exervia Joseph.
The real battle will be mounted upfront where the outcome of the match should be determined by the likes of Amoa’s Junior Harold Gima and Water Henao, for Lavukoloa, and Marlin’s Junior Taeara Momo, Boio Stevens and setter Perry John.
In the women’s division, rookies Hutai — from nearby Taikone village — meet Soul Hunters after securing a place in the grand final from fifth spot.
Hutai girls, who are brimming, should cause another upset and add Hunters to their list of casualties this season.
The U21 match is a toss-up between minor premiers Nade Charges and a free-flowing Lavukoloa outfit.
Charges’ brothers pair of Daure and Toua Maraga should cause some fiery clashes with Lavukoloa’s Eric Alu and Idau Nakula. The minor premiers should prove too strong for the opposition.
