Law enforcers betraying trust

Letters

THIS concerns the report on the rape of a 15-year-old by two officers that was published in yesterday’s The National.
Police station is the refuge and sanctuary for all, however from time and again, those so called-policemen who supposed to protect the lives and upheld the law are doing the contrary, preying on the weak and vulnerable mothers and young women who sought protection and help at their end.
Female who sought help or sent in there for their alleged breach of law has all the rights to be protected by the law.
Sexual harassment and abuse by so call law enforcing agency is really a disgrace and ridicules the work of the disciplinary force and it should not be condone in public offices like this. Where could mothers and young women who sought for help if need be, either as victims or perpetrators?
Do these policemen have wives and daughters? You should know better and do better to protect the lives of vulnerable citizens.
I think one should consider doing a research to get us the stats of women and young girls being raped by police compared to that of the criminals, it would be interesting to see who leads in this race.
This is a child sexual abuse case and should be seriously dealt with by the law and bring to justice those involved.
I think the so-called husband is as guilty as the two officer allege for the crime by taking the age of victim into consideration; luring underage vulnerable girls into marriage, (don’t know if it is legal) and yet leaving them behind and having affair or relationship with other women which is the cause of all this problem.
It is a pity! Poor girl, I don’t know if this young man will remain with you and be faithful after all these that happened because of him.
