A LAWYER has condemned Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for claiming that a warrant issued for his arrest by the court was a fake.

Alois Jerewai urged O’Neill to stop using Parliament and the media to justify his innocence as well.

“It is in insult to the educated population on this country,” he said.

Jerewai was one of three senior lawyers recently tasked to conduct a commission of inquiry into the special agriculture business leases in PNG.

Speaking during a press conference called by Opposition MPs, he said the only venue to prove one’s innocence was in court and not in Parliament or in the media.

He said for an officer in the PM’s office to tell the media that the court order was a fake was unacceptable.
