Lawyer charged

THE special police forensic criminal investigation team has arrested and charged a senior lawyer in Port Moresby with 83 counts of misappropriation, false pretence, conspiracy to defraud and money laundering.
The amount involved is K127,500.
Police Commissioner David Manning confirmed that the female lawyer was picked up by the team on Tuesday and taken to the Boroko Police Station where she participated in a formal record of interview. Comm Manning, who is heading the investigation team, told The National that the lawyer was then charged.
He said she communicated on behalf of her company with banks in the transfer of K15 million held in a trust account and later received a total of K127,500.
