The lack of essential services for the people in Wewak district is the result of infighting among officers from the office of the Wewak MP and the district administration, a community leader from the outlying Biem Island, in East Sepik, said.
Caspar Jagur said some major projects initiated by former Wewak MP Jim Simatab now stood incomplete.
He said it seemed incumbent MP Dr Moses Manwau was not interested in seeing them completed.
Jagur said one of those projects was the K180,000 Biem major aid post building, which “is now collecting cobwebs”.
He said the frame for a community health worker’s house was rotting away because it had been ignored by the new political administration.
Jagur said the change in the political leadership of the district had affected the district’s administration resulting in no service delivery.
