A local level government president in East Sepik has been committed by the Wewak District Court to stand trial at the National Court next year for assaulting his cousin.

Senior Magistrate David Susame made the ruling yesterday after he was convinced the evidence before the court covered all aspects of the charge.

Philip Koni, who is the president of Bubitam-Muhian LLG in Maprik, was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and causing serious injuries to parts of his cousin’s body after an argument at their Kreer Public Tank settlement.
