MOROBE Governor Luther Wenge has been criticised for standing up for Indonesia’s sovereign rights following the Falcon jet saga.
Butibam community leader Michael Earley Daure said it was hypocritical of Wenge to take that stand especially when he was vehemently against foreigners meddling in the affairs of Papua New Guinea.
Wenge earlier this week supported moves by the Indonesian military in sending two fighter jets to escort the VIP jet with Deputy Prime Minister Belden Namah and two other ministers on board out of Indonesian air space, saying they were doing what was right under their sovereign boundary to defend their country.
Daure called on Nawaeb MP Timothy Bonga to allow young MPs such as Namah and Monitoring and Planning Minister Sam Basil to continue to do good for the country instead of being quick to criticise them.
He said although Bonga and Wenge were seasoned MPs they had done very little for their electorates.
Daure said they should now return to the province to supervise the completion of projects they had begun as the general election was looming.
He said the Malahang market project was one such project that was launched but work did not start.
He said the public was unsure whether it would take place.
