Leaders still have no shame despite charges
The National, Friday 13th of February 2015
IT is indeed very shameful for a developing country like PNG to see and hear about our political leaders and senior bureaucrats being caught for official corruption and misappropriation.
However, one thing you may find very funny and common in PNG is that in most cases, when these big men are caught for their wrongdoings, they vigorously fight to tell the world of their innocence.
What a shame.
In developed countries, it is quite the contrary as leaders caught for such wrongdoings willingly step down from their positions and await their fate.
Lately we have seen three governors and some MPs caught for official corruption and misappropriation.
It is a shameful scenario when one governor claims that he is still the governor.
Please have some sense of remorse and respect, and step down to allow justice to take its course.
I encourage those mitigating investigations into the cases to continue their good work because there are still more of these idiots out there who are sucking and milking the national purse, depriving the seven million people of PNG basic services.
