Leaders told to get hands on road fund

PRIME Minister James Marape says Eastern Highlands leaders should sit and work with the provincial administration to get funds for roads as K64 million was disbursed last year to the province.
He was responding to questions by the Unggai-Bena MP Benny Allen on the purpose of the K64 million given to the province and if the K4 million promised to each district during the prime minister’s provincial visit was part of that money, then when would it be given to his and the Henganofi district?
He said the money committed during the visit to the provinces were consistent with the national plan and budget for that year and so was the case for Eastern Highlands.
“When I came out from Eastern Highlands, I realised that the K64 million was warranted to the provincial government and the provincial government is in receipt of that fund.”
